Rehearsals for the autumn term start on Monday 24th September at 7.15 p.m.
These rehearsals will be working towards a Christmas Concert which it is proposed will be in the evening of Tuesday December 18th 2007. More details will be available later.
A recent letter to the Sunderland Echo from J.King made the following comments about our summer concert:
“Many years ago, in a film called The Glenn Miller Story the band leader found the ‘sound’ he was searching for when the band played Moonlight Serenade. On Saturday 9th June, I believe David Murray and the Bishopwearmouth Choral Society attained something of what Glenn Miller did. They were absolutely superb. Along with the orchestra and guest singers, the choir certainly made it a night to remember. Having attended the BCS concerts for the past 15 years, enjoying every one of them, I think they surpassed anything they had done before. Long may the choir continue to give such pleasure to the many followers who attend their concerts.”
This year’s Fayre will take place on Saturday the 3rd of November in the hall at Ewesley Road Methodist Church from 10.00 a.m. Preparation of the stalls will be possible on the Friday night (between 7.00 and 8.30 p.m.)
E.Midgley is co-ordinating this event and volunteers are needed to assist with stalls and refreshments. Donations in kind as well as in money will be gratefully received.
These will be held on Thursday 4th and 11th of October between 7.30 and 9.30 p.m. in Brunswick Methodist Church, Newcastle (at the side of Fenwick’s). On Saturday the 13th of October there will be an afternoon rehearsal at the City Hall from 2.00 till 5.00 p.m., and the concert is being advertised as starting at 7.00 p.m. See event details for ticket arrangements.
