The first rehearsal of the New Year will be on Wednesday 12th January 2011 – as usual at 7.30 p.m. in Sunderland Minster. As this is the evening when scores will be distributed please try and attend in good time before 7.30 so that the rehearsal can start promptly.

Thank you to everyone who braved the winter conditions to attend the rehearsal on Wednesday. Having proved your determination to see the concert take place, the usual arrangements still apply for Friday and Saturday afternoon to put up the stage and complete our preparation for the concert.
In the event of any further hurdles appearing then any change will be posted here.
Tonight’s rehearsal is going ahead and we hope that you can make it, provided you are confortable with the weather conditions.
Any change in Friday’s rehearsal or arrangements for Saturday will be posted under Members’ News as soon as anything is confirmed.
For your diary – A Dinner is being organised for Society members, patrons and friends on Friday May 20th 2011 at The Place, Athenaeum Street, Sunderland. Full details will be available in the New Year, how you can book your place etc but you might like to put the date in your new diary now!
As well as wishing all of our members a Happy New Year, we would also like to confirm that the first rehearsal of the year will be on Wednesday the 12th January 2011, same time, same place. We look forward to seeing you there.
As promised, attached is a PDF file of the concert poster for the 4th of December 2010 concert. This is a better quality than the trial provided for the summer concert but is still only intended as a back-up to the printed version made available at rehearsals.

To prepare for our involvement in this year’s NEPAC Last Night of the Proms (to be held in the City hall, Newcastle, on Saturday October 16th, 2010) rehearsals have been scheduled for the evenings of Thursday October 7th (in the Church of St.John the Evangelist, Kingston Park, Newcastle, NE3 2HB) between 7.30 and 9.30 p.m. and Thursday 14th October (in Brunswick Methodist Church, Brunswick Place, Newcastle, NE1 7BJ – next to Fenwick’s) also between 7.30 and 9.30 p.m. On the Saturday there will be a 2.00 p.m. rehearsal before the concert at 7.00 p.m.
The Annual General Meeting for all members of the Society will be held on Wednesday 8th September 2010, at 7.30 p.m. in Sunderland Minster. Papers for the meeting will be circulated by post ahead of that date. Rehearsals for the new season begin on the following Wednesday, the 15th of September. We look forward to seeing you there.
This is a test of whether a concert poster can be made available on the website for use by members if they do not have a preprinted poster to hand for publicity.
If this link works it will provide a .pdf file which can be printed out in the normal way on your own computer. This first attempt has been made using a scanned version of the poster and hence the quality is not as high as it might be. For future concerts we will provide a PDF version of the original. As these are only intended as a back-up to the printed versions made available at rehearsals, they will be posted under the members section rather than under general publicity.

Rehearsals for the new season start on Friday the 11th September at 6.00 p.m. until 7.00 p.m. at the usual venue, Ewesley Road Methodist Church. We look forward to seeing all of our regular members there – plus any new ones who might have been encouraged to come.
